The house is nice (modern, comfortable) but our experience was not. The door key is a complicated electronic entry system. There is a lockbox, but thatâs not how you get in. We could not figure it out. We couldnât find VRBOâs entry instructions and no one was available to help. The hosts were in another country and did not reply. Their local backup was not answering despite us leaving 4 messages. Five hours later, at 1:30am, the local backup responded. By then we had given up and found a hotel room. After a stressful day of travel, the last thing you want is a host that is unavailable. In addition to the regular pre-check-out tidying up that all VRBO hosts ask, these hosts also expect guests to remove the bed linens and vacuum the carpets. The information booklet in the house even insinuates theyâll give you a poor rating if you donât: âOur rating of you as a guest is based on the following ⊠Place used sheets, pillowcases, towels and facecloths in the bath ⊠Vacuum debris off the floor and carpetsâ. And this is despite the fact that youâre paying a cleaning fee in addition to the rental fee. Most hosts supply laundry detergent - not these hosts.Parking is challenging unless you have a smaller car. You canât use the garage, so you have to park at the end of a laneway between the units, then do a multi-point turn when you want to leave.
