The entire stay was a nightmare. I couldn't get into the unit & had to call the manager because the key code didn't work. The inside of the house was definitely not clean; there was dried food on the kitchen counter & the floors were filthy. There was no AC in the front bedroom. My son-in-law had to collect fans from his employer for us to use in the living room & front bedroom. We were provided 2 bath towels and 1 set of bed linens for a 7 day stay (3 adults) & no dish towels. We had to buy towels for our stay! There was broken glass in the backyard. The front door showed obvious signs of being kicked in; the windows were filthy; the kitchen sponge that was left for us to use was filthy; the couch was broken.
For starters, I cannot give 5 stars nor 1 star regarding the property because I never got to see it. I booked this location Wednesday 3/26/25 @ 9:03 a.m. for the dates of 3/27 - 3/30. I received a confirmation email as well as an email with the address and door code; good to go correct? No. I get on the road to Louisiana from Alabama, 500 mile trip. I get closer to Louisiana, somewhere around Vicksburg and pull up my email to retrieve the address again. I notice I had received an email from Vrbo on Wednesday 3/36 @ 10:22 p.m. stating my booking had been canceled!! No explanation for why or anything. I call Vrbo and they could not give me a reason for why it was canceled. I look on the message board that is supposed to be between you and the property owner/manager and there was no reason on there either, just a message saying it had been canceled. There was a phone number to call in order to reach the owner/manager so I called. I spoke with a lady, not the owner, and she said it was canceled because it was double book. She then tells me, âwe sent you an email.â She is correct, they did send an email at 10:22 p.m. the night before I had a 500 mile drive and AFTER I received the emails with the house information. I of course was out the almost 600 for my trip because, of course it takes several days to refund your money. Again, I canât comment on the property.
My team faced multiple issues when checking in. They reported that the window units in the house couldn't cope with the heat and detected a moldy smell. The place was disgustingly filthy. It was so bad that despite paying for a whole month, my team refused to stay after just one week. I had to secure alternative accommodations for them. When I requested a refund for the remaining three weeks, the owner suggested that they would refund us if I told VRBO that we had canceled, so they could rebook it for the other three weeks. After complying with their request, I received a message stating that they were unable to refund my money. So, not only am I not receiving my money back, but I am also paying double the money by double-booking the other three weeks. These owners and double booking and making double because I contacted VRBO for them. In my opinion, it's best to steer clear of this place and its deceitful owners.
I havenât stayed in the country in a while, but I was quickly reminded of stray animals and how easy ants are attracted to food. Once I remembered these things, everything was perfect. This private retreat had great television and entertainment options, plenty of linens, and the temperature was perfect to escape the scathing heat outside. I didnât rent a car, which was inconvenient for quick gas station trips, but once I did my shopping I could easily walk to the casinos and event venues. Thank you for everything.
