We are a NC, beach front, owner who primarily rents their property for summer rentals… so we know what a house should be provided with to make our guests comfortable. We are providing our review based on our stay.
Overall, the house is in pretty good shape, having been built in 2006. The AC in the upstairs was unable to keep the upstairs cool from about noon until after midnight. This made the evening hours tough, made us reluctant to cook due to the added heat, and hot to fall asleep. The homeowner has locked their thermostats at 72, and does not provide any shades in the afternoon Sun facing windows, which is why it got so hot. Made the great sized family room, tough for us to fully enjoy.
The bedroom description vs pictures did/does not match. So there was a bit of a surprise. The ceiling fans in each bedroom were nice though. Room darkening shades would be nice.
The shower in the master bath is a cheap plastic insert, with a very poorly fitted door which caused the shower to leak all over the bathroom.
The kitchen has a great deal of dishes, silverware, and glasses. But the cookware, serving dishes, and large spoons and spatulas were rather sparse. The inside and outside of cabinets needed cleaning.
Freshly painted walls were nice and clean. But the house overall definitely needs a super deep clean.
The hot tub was nice, but obstructed the view from one of the bedrooms. The pool was good too. Could of used some pool furniture around it. It would of been nice to have a pool cleaning hose so we could clean it ourselves. Having a pool on the ground is sand trap, even with rinsing off before getting in. There is a ramp off to the side which could be used for someone in a wheel chair, but that ramp up does not connect to a ramp down to the beach. Having 2 grandparents with walking issues, a ramp up is pretty useless without a ramp down to the beach.
Great location. Great beach. Ok house, especially for the price we paid (~15k for 1 week).
