Arrived at check in time and the unit was not cleaned from the previous occupants. Attempted contact with host which went unanswered for several attempts. Made contact with VRBO direct who also attempted to contact host. The host never replied but I did get a call from, the owner, who apologized and promised to get a cleaner out to clean the unit. He also stated he would make it right for the inconvenience, and promised to email me. We had been on the road with family for nearly 10 hours and only wanted to relax. We ended up being over 3 hours late getting to check in with no place to go while the unit was being cleaned. Once we checked it, it was very obvious it was a very quick clean job as the home was still dirty and had no toilet paper, which resulted in yet another trip out to find a store after being exhausted. Since the owner had said he would contact me by email to “make it right” we just unpacked and tried to rest after a very long day. The home is older and needs updates, but cleaned up right it’s not a terrible property, the drive is a little steep but is manageable if you’ve driven in the mountains before. Overall, the stay could have been better if the owner would have followed through or at least made further contact to check on us, but I’ve yet to hear back from him, nor has the host responded at all. That disappoints me as I’ve never had to leave a negative review. Customer service was not to the standard I would expect from a VRBO Property.
