Our family of 13 -15 adults, teens, kids and babies vacation together every year. It takes a big house, lots of beds, a huge kitchen and plenty of space for gathering to make it work. Cedar House at Lake Lure was our perfect place. We had a lot of questions, and host Katie Miller replied promptly and thoroughly to each one. We were arriving in several cars and there was room for all of them. We needed two ovens, two dishwashers, two washers and dryers.....no problem at Cedar house. We needed several areas for gathering up and found four good places the first day....the decks, the living room with a big coffee table for games, the sunporch with more big sofas, a kid table for meals which doubled as a bumper pool / poker table, and the long table in the dining area, where the cooks could visit with family while making meals. The entryway to the front door became the art and game area for the little ones, out of the way but close to the action. We slept a family of four in the loft and they were not bothered by noise. We slept all teenage boys in the bunk room....what a gift that was. The bedrooms and bathrooms were beautiful, well stocked and there was plenty of water pressure. A storm knocked out power to the house one night just as we put a big soufflé in the oven. Within seconds, the whole-house generator switched itself on and worked all night until power was restored. We didn't miss a minute of fun.
The lake? Perfect, clean, lots of toys. Best house ever!
