Host was responsive when contacted. The building and unit we stayed in needs updating. We had to contact the Angel Host person to resolve 5 separate maintenance items. First was the bed. I sat down, not jumped, on it when we arrived and it broke (I weigh 140lbs). The wooden frame wasn't put together properly. Maintenance fixed it by using longer screws, but it still isn't put together properly... The other issues: a shower head was spraying water sideways out of the shower and all the way to the toilet, a shower was clogged somehow, a mini-split wasn't working, and a sink was leaking quite a bit. All were resolved pretty quickly.Beyond the maintenance issues, the couch seems like patio furniture, so it was fine for a couple minutes but after a long day of walking around, the lack of cushion was quickly felt. Beds were comfortable. The location of the building is nice. 38th street is really pretty to walk down, and such a short walk to 5th. We only heard loud music from a bar/club one night but it wasn't disturbing, just background noise really. As of Dec 24, 2025, the beach at 38th is non-existent.We ended up visiting Playa Esmeralda and the main beach where the Cozumel ferry docks. Those were really nice, plenty of sand. The rooftop pool was really nice.If we went back to Playa Del Carmen, we'd probably stay in a different place. For the cost, we expected it to be better.
