Stayed for a girls trip. Perfect location to the public beach access (right across the street), walking distance to restaurants, grocery store, shopping. Comfortable and cozy place.
Hideaway B was ideal for our family and looked exactly like the listing. Communication was prompt and reliable, and when our door lock broke, it was fixed in 30 minutes. We would definitely recommend staying here!!
We had a great story stay at this rental! It is near the bridge and the ships/restaurants in Surf City, and right by two public access beaches, which was awesome. Place was clean and check-in easy. Only clarification I would make is that the fenced in area behind the unit was a shared space and dogs appeared to be required to remain on leash; you do not have direct access to it from the unit, but rather must walk from the side door to the gateâitâs only a few feet, but I want to share to help other pet owners preparing to stay. The shared space was quite nice and the playground would be be great for small kids. Would stay again!
Great location and cleaner than most dog friendly stays
The location was great! It was easy to walk to the beach or downtown. We had a dog and 2 kids with us so we appreciated the backyard however it would be nice to have some level of separation between where the dogs go potty and the kids play. One of the beds just about flipped over the first time we tried to get on it. The frame was clearly broke and the bed was being held up by poorly placed cinder blocks and a brick. Upon arrival the outside dog poo bags were empty and the trash was full. I communicated these problems and they seemed responsive so no deduction for this. The only problem I am deducting a star for is the lack of soundproofing specifically for unit B. We could hear cell phone conversations (at a normal volume) that were happening outside of the building. We could hear footsteps of a 2 year old child that was staying in the unit above us. We could also hear the neighbor and every beat and word of his music as he partied until 4 am. I get the impression that the owners are aware of this since there were sound machines in the room and ear plugs in the welcome basket. If you can sleep comfortably with ear plugs and donât need to have an ear available to listen for your kids then all is good. If not you may want to try another unit. We got to know most of the other renters during our trip and from that small sample set it seemed the opposite side didnât have as much trouble with noise.
The positive thing about this property is that it is right across the street from a public beach access. Other than that we had quite a few problems.
The area is busy and noisy. The walls are very thin, so you can hear the other guests talking, watching tv, walking around, everything.
There were very few dishes provided and they were all dirty. There was not enough dish washer detergent, toilet paper or trash bags left for our stay. The baseboards all around the apartment were grimy and hairy. One of the bed frames was broken and being held up by a brick. We found a dirty undershirt under one of the beds.
There was no direct access to the fenced in yard and we had to keep our dog on a leash in the yard, which kind of defeats the point of having the fence. Also, the dog waste recepticle in the back yard clearly hadn't been emptied in a very long time, it was too full to use, and all the baggies were gone.
Also, the air-conditioner was extremely loud. It didn't bother us during the day, but it is right outside the bedroom windows, so at night it was very loud every time it kicked on and off.
The ceiling above the shower is stained brown, cracked and bowing. Also, there was dried brown drips on the bathroom walls.
Also, there were literally no closets in the whole apartment.
Last time we stayed in Surf City we stayed at a place equally close to the beach for the same price and it was much cleaner and better maintained. I do not recommend this rental.
From the moment we crossed the bridge we were totally relaxed!! Wonderful place to stay! My daughter, myself and our two dogs stayed for 3 nights. The walkability to stores and restaurants was perfect. It's near one of the cutest public beach accesses we have ever seen! And the beach, well what can you say?! It's amazing!! that's probably the only "downfall" to the place is that you can't see the beach from the apartment -- but we knew that and you can hear the ocean when you are outside. The apartment itself had everything we needed for our stay -- just the right size. It's exactly as pictured. Our only suggestions to add to the place would be to provide a Keurig, a charging station, and maybe a shelf in the bathroom. But, again, we had everything we needed! Really nice fenced backyard area for our dogs.
We hated to leave, and the dogs did too.
It was a very nice stay, close to everything. We chose this location because it was ground level with minimal steps which was perfect for my mother who has trouble walking. The only issue was that the beds were way too tall for someone to get into if they have bad legs/knees, my mother was unable to use the bed but said the couch was comfortable
We thoroughly enjoyed this property as it was within walking distance to everything Surf City has to offer! The convenience of allowing our fur babies was icing on the cake! I highly recommend this!
Very convenient to everything. We parked our car and walked everywhere! Definitely would stay again. I would rent an upstairs unit next time because the people upstairs were really HEAVY footed.
